Hi there?

sorry - I can't speak Portuguese!

I am driving from the UK down to Budens / Lagos in the south of Portugal in the last 2 weeks of July in my 1962 Notchback. Does anyone know of any VW shows in that area around that time??????

IT WILL BE A MEETING ON THE 15TH JULY.you can see the map on the first item of this topic.the meeting area will be near OBIDOS.it will also have another meeting on the 21-22th july on POVOA DO VARZIM.They will certenly be the meetings for that season,i think.

If you are planning to cross Portugal from North to south, by coast, you could go to some vw places (shops & friends) to have a feeling about the vw scene in Portugal.
If you plan to go to Algarve to south of spain you also can go up after that, making the beach coast, in left Alentejo, where there are the most of vw's in summer. Nice trip, with lots of good beachs.
The meeting of 15 July will be "The One" in summer, vw fashion, near old town of Óbidos. Very important, it's the "Barbecue Two - BBQ2". Please go there and find paradise VW!

thanks for all the tips guys - sadly I don't think I will be anywhere near those areas on those dates.

My schedule is

July 14th - Leave Nottingham UK - and get to somewhere near Bordeaux, France
July 15th - drive to Salamanca Area - hotel
July 16th - drive all day to Budens


can you suggest any places I should try to drive through???

and which is the best route through Portugal going south????

you can get to budens always on the highway since you get to Guarda..

if you chose to go through the interior i recomend you the IP2(portalegre-estremoz-evora-beja-ourique..) then ic1 and A22.
