Hi,

Olá.

My name is Stephan and I'm the new owner of this highroof..

O meu nome é Stephan e sou o novo dono desta carrinha de tecto alto.

I'm belgian and moved to the UK 2 yrs ago, plse excuse me as I do not speak Portuguese.. :?

I've been into buses for quite some time and have had a few until 6 yrs ago when I decided I wanted a highroof!
Since then I became addicted to them hence why this summer nr 2 joined the family :D

I love traveling in a bus and this was one of the main reason's why I bought a highroof as they offer more space.. So my dream came true when I found my 1st highroof (also from Portugal, found in a batch with other buses and sold by Vintagevans). My plan was to build my ultimate camper van and build/modify it to my needs and use it as much as I/we can..

you can see the build here

Since I put it on the road 3yrs ago I've done about 50.000km's in it, been to Portugal twice (We love it, what a beautiful country!!) and have lived in it for several months.

I now feel I have used it a little too much ( I know it sounds weird) hence why I want to start building the new one so this one can go in to storage and will only come out when the weather is nice.. It has been living outside ever since I moved to the UK and it rains a LOT over here

Right that's enough about who I am.. :)

Ok, chega de falar sobre mim...

I would like to ask the moderators if you could keep this topic live as I've tried to translate it and have found some useful information about the history of this bus which is important to me.

I've also noticed a lot of forum users are in the stock nazi  camp and I appreciate that the above bus is not your taste and you're worried about the new one.. :D
Well, if it makes you happy I can tell you that my new highroof won't be modified, I'm planning to go all stock with a few accessories such as an industrial bumper and knobbly tyres. The plan is to build this into a daily driver so, as mentioned, the other one can go in storage..

If you'd like to check the updates then plse feel free to visit my blog.

If there are any other highroof owners out there, plse can you give me a shout so I can add you to the register

Cheers

Cumprimentos.

hi Stephan,

glad to hear that you're saving another highroof. I've seen photos of your trips around Europe :D
if you're planning holidays in Portugal, there are lots of gatherings during the summer and we would be very pleased to see that bus in person. I've heard there's a really good one during August, in Ferreira do Zêzere, center of Portugal

hey there Stephan

welcome to our little space here, glad to see you around here :D i follow your blog since when one day i was in internet tracking down some portuguese vans in europe, and discovered you
about the nazi originality ( love the term  ), we have some good projects around here, and we are starting to see some diferent cars in portugal
we dont have more because the parts are not so accessible in monetary issues, the strictly laws about car modifications, and of course the main issue is the mentality, but slowly things are changing :D

keep up the good work, hope to see you and your van some day 8)

(sorry for any grammar errors)

Hi Nezz,

Marocco is still something I want to do but I want to go the East Europe and North Europe too.. Decissions eh.. If I come to PT I'll post it here and see if we can do a local show too!

Hi Joao,

Your english great mate! :-)
Cheers on the blog compliment ;-) Yeah the stock "nazi's" eh.. what would the scene be without them  I can really appreciate them tho.. I like to see the diversity on the shows and I can appreciate a super original bus.. :-)

I've heard about the laws re car modifications and it must be hard when you want to but you can't.. In Belgium they're not easy either but luckily there's a few gaps in the law.. ;-)

Cheers

I do have another question:

Does anybody here have more info about Guerin and how they went ahead with the conversion of the windows..?

I have noticed on both my buses how clean the windows have been pressed in and it makes me think they must've had some kind of equipment/machinery/tool to make the window pressings in the side panel..
Any one here that can shed any light on them..?

Cheers
